Candle Safety

Special Announcement - After 6 years in business Magical Mouse Candleworks will be closing its doors on December 31 2008. Some customers have asked if I will still be making tarts etc.. I will be replacing this website with the one for my other small business Pages and Print (patterns and paperback books) BUT there will be a page called FRAGRANCE where you can order some of the most popular tarts that I have offered in the past -  The economy dictates that I close the candleworks - Thanks to all of my loyal customers over the past 6 years - you have made it a fun and interesting ride. So I will be selling off my inventory here and on eBay as variety boxes and on the Last Chance Bargain page.  Candle of the Months subscriptions will continue to ship as always

Here are some tips that will make your candle experience safe and enjoyable.

Never leave a candle burning unattended.
Never leave your tart burner on when you leave the house
When emptying your tart burner be careful how you handle the melted wax
Use holders designed for votives, votive should seat firmly in holder.
Extinguish all candles before going to sleep.
Keep candles away from items that can catch fire including but not limited to curtains, drapes, flammable decorations, books, clothes, paper etc.
Keep candles and all open flames away from flammable liquids.
Keep candle wicks trimmed to one-quarter inch.
Never leave a child unattended in a room with a candle.
Keep candles, matches, and lighters out of the reach of children
Make sure that burning candles in holders are placed on a flat even surface to prevent warm wax from being jostled out of the holder.
Practice candle safety till you get " candle perfect".
Sit jar candles on a fire safe coaster, on a level surface to prevent tipping or bumping accidentally
Candle Snuffers Why they are a good idea !

DO NOT BLOW OUT YOUR CANDLES!!!

Blowing out your candles causes:
•an uneven burn of your candle
•melted wax to splatter all over
•smoking of the candle
•black soot build up on your container or the walls around the candle.
